Autumn Festival
25 to 29 September 2020
The end of the harvest led to the establishment in Lleida of a festival celebrating the city's de facto second patron saint, St Michael (29 September). As a result, the St Michael agricultural fair is also marked by Lleida's Autumn Festival,
An event with a distinctly cultural feel. Along with traditional local folk performances (sardana and stick dancing, havanera music) there is also an extensive musical and dramatic programme.
For lovers of fire and fireworks, the Great Night of the Bestiary brings together the finest Catalan mythical beasts, headed by the local Dragon, "Lo Maraco". Troops of devils accompany the fantastical display in a fire run along Avinguda de Blondel, one of the city's main thoroughfares. Visitors are recommended to take a handkerchief and cap to protect them from the sparks.
